The Hearth

Designed for families balancing everyday life, work-from-home, and a need for calm, well-organized space that holds up over time.

House Plan Collection

One Design.
Three Right-Sized Versions.

Each version shares the same architectural core. The difference is capacity—supporting spaces layered around that core so you can choose the amount of house that fits your daily life without redesigning everything from scratch.

Take the Quiz

The Hearth House Plan is available in three versions.

2 Bedroom | 2.5 Bathroom | 1,464 sf

The Hearth is an intentionally designed single-story home that proves you don’t need a big footprint to feel truly settled.

At 1,464 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, it’s built for comfort without excess—and for daily life that feels calm and manageable.

The plan is centered on the kitchen and dining spaces (the “hearth” of the home), with a generous island and a separate beverage/baking bar that make everyday routines—and hosting a few people—feel easy without crowding.

The layout runs in a simple, linear flow from living room to dining to kitchen, so you get connection between spaces without everything happening on top of each other. It’s especially well-suited for individuals or couples starting a new chapter, small families with one child (or planning for one), and empty nesters who want room for guests without maintaining a large house.

Bedrooms are tucked away for privacy while still staying close to the heart of the home, and the covered back porch extends daily life outdoors in a simple, low-fuss way. With its clean rectangular footprint and no attached garage, The Hearth Petite stays builder-friendly, adaptable, and quietly focused on what matters most: warmth, routine, and a home that feels complete at the size it is.

  • Gym area, craft area, and everything in between

This version is great for families that need just a little bit more space for future flexibility than the Petite Version.

From the Architect

Traditionally, the hearth was the place where daily life gathered — where meals were prepared, conversations lingered, and warmth came from use rather than display.

In this collection, the kitchen is the hearth.

It’s where people naturally collect, where hosting feels easy, and where everyday routines anchor the rest of the house. The Hearth isn’t about a single feature — it’s about a feeling of warmth, containment, and steadiness that comes from thoughtful scale and layout.

This home is designed to feel lived-in, not impressive. And that’s exactly the point.

Warmly,

Heather

What is Included

What’s included with your plan purchase:

Every plan set includes the architectural construction drawings needed to build the home design.

Included:
  • area plans
  • floor plans
  • roof plans
  • elevations
  • sections
  • interior elevations
  • reflected ceiling plans
  • electrical diagrams
  • window/door schedules
  • renderings

Not included (because they are site- and jurisdiction-specific):
  • Foundation plan
  • Structural drawings
  • Mechanical drawings

Because every build site and jurisdiction is different, you may need a local structural engineer (and other local professionals) to complete site-specific requirements. If your jurisdiction requires an architect’s stamp, Heather Hanson Homes does not provide one. Confirm requirements before purchasing.

The Build Clarity Framework

Build Clarity is the right-sizing framework that helps you decide how much house you actually need—so you can choose a plan without second-guessing.
It explains why these decisions feel hard, teaches core vs. capacity, and helps you apply the logic to your real life—not a hypothetical future.
